CRYSTAL FALLS—A 22-year Crystal Falls man died as a result of a boating accident on the Michigamme-Reservoir on June 8.
According to a press release from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, Iron County Central Dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 10:59 p.m. regarding a boating accident. The accident involved two watercraft that had collided. The Crystal Falls man was taken to the shore following the collision and died on the scene due to injuries sustained in the accident.
The incident remains under investigation. All names involved will be released following next-of-kin notification. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.
The Iron County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by Iron County Search and Rescue, the Michigan State Police, Michigan Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement, Aspirus Medevac, Iron County Central Dispatch, the Crystal Falls Police Department and the Iron County Victim Advocates.
